Breaking free from Wilderness Mentality

Moses' Job was to lead the Israelites out of Slavery in Egypt to the Promised Land. On their journey to the Promised Land they were in the wilderness going around the same mountain for 40 years due to grumbling, complaining and faultfinding. Through the wilderness God led them with a cloud by day, fire by night. He sent fresh Manna (wafers made with honey) from the sky every day for them in the morning, water to drink and quail for them to eat in the evening. Instead of the Israelites seeing their Glass as half full, they saw their glass as half empty. They wanted to go back to slavery instead of press through to get to the Promised Land with a good attitude.

Even today many Christians have the same wilderness mentality. Just like the Israelites we were enslaved as well. Our Master was sin but now our new master is God.

Romans 6:20-23
When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right. 21 And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom. 22 But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

When the difficulties of life happen, just like the Israelites we want to go back to the familiar life we used to live but God is calling us to come higher, to change our wilderness mentality to a kingdom of God mentality {Luke 17:20-21, Matthew 6:33, John 3:3, Mark 10:15}.

We have to shy away from thinking that will short circuit our destiny.

"I'm not good enough, I'm not worthy to serve God or go to heaven"
"It's not my fault, that's just how I am"
"I am a product of my environment"
"Everybody else's life is better than mine"
"God doesn't Love me"

Transform our mind with the word of God.

Ephesians 2:10……... "I am God’s work of art"
2 Corinthians 5:17….." I am a new creation in Christ Jesus"
Ephesians 4:13.......... "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"
Colossians 2:10…..… “We are made complete in Christ”
John 3:16................... "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish and have eternal life"
1 Corinthians 1:30…. “We are righteous and holy in Christ”

Let's stop complaining and keep moving! Your wilderness experience is not meant to hurt us but it is meant to shape your character, make you stronger and teach you how to trust God(Deuteronomy 8). Let’s Jehovah Jireh (Our provider), El Shaddai (Our Supplier) lead us through our journey into our Promised Land.
